Verkalok: Það er undurgott að ljúka verkefni sem hefur tekið langan tíma, hreinsa til á teikniborðinu, ganga frá verkfærum og ekki síst huga að nýjum verkum! Í síðustu viku lauk ég við myndlýsingar fyrir næstu skrímslabók sem verður eins og fyrri bækur gefin út á þremur tungumálum, móðurmálum höfundanna: á íslensku hjá Forlaginu, á færeysku hjá Bókadeildinni í Færeyjum og á sænsku hjá forlaginu Opal í Stokkhólmi.

Eins og ævinlega á síðustu metrunum er ég samt hlessa yfir því hvað þetta hefur allt tekið langan tíma og er jafnframt sannfærð um að verkið sé í alla staði ómögulegt. Þá er kominn tími til að halda áfram – og gera betur næst!

Hérna neðst í póstinum er lítið myndband frá vinnuborðinu. Ég væri auðvitað alveg til í að geta unnið svona hratt …

Cleaning the desk: Last week I finished the illustrations for the next book in the Monster series. As the previous books this ninth book in the series will be published in three languages, the mother tongues of the authors: Icelandic (Forlagið), Faroese (BFL) and Swedish (Opal).

It’s satisfying to clean the desk and stow away sketches and papers – and get ready to finish the layout and files for printing. Yet, as always when I wrap up a project and face delivery, I also feel frustrated: Why took it so long? Is this it, is this all I came up with? Then I know it’s time to move on, – and try to do better next time.
