Heima hjá skrímslum | The busy homes of monsters

♦ Upplifunarsýningin Skrímslin bjóða heim opnaði laugardaginn 24. október 2015 í Gerðubergi menningarhúsi við afbragðsgóðar viðtökur og mikla aðsókn. Myndirnar hér fyrir neðan eru frá opnunardeginum og enn fleiri myndir má sjá á Fb-síðu Gerðubergs. Sýningin byggir á sagnaheimi bókanna um litla skrímslið og stóra skrímslið eftir Áslaugu Jónsdóttur, Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal. Sýningarstjórar og hönnuðir eru Áslaug Jónsdóttir og Högni Sigurþórsson.

Vinnan við sýninguna var mikið ævintýri og á sér langan aðdraganda. Þar dró vagninn Guðrún Dís Jónatansdóttir viðburðastjóri og svo verkefnastjórarnir Ásta Þöll Gylfadóttir og Stella Soffía Jóhannesdóttir hjá Borgarbókasafni Reykjavíkur. Starfsfólk Gerðubergs Menningarhúss lét heldur ekki sitt eftir liggja og ber nú hitann og þungan af móttöku gesta. Helsta samstarfsmanni mínum, listasmið og hönnuði, Högna Sigurþórssyni, vil ég þakka ómetanlegt framlag og skapandi og skemmtilegt samstarf. Sýningin stendur allt til 24. apríl 2016, en er hönnuð sem farandsýning og mun án efa halda í langferðir þegar fram líða stundir.

♦ Exhibition for children: So at last the exhibition “Skrímslin bjóða heim” , Visit to the Monsters, was opened in Gerðuberg Culture House on October the 24th 2015. What a day! The house was bursting with monster friends who all wanted to enjoy playing and reading in the world of monsters.

Designing and working on the exhibition has been a long and exciting adventure. I would like to thank the enthusiastic staff at Reykjavík City Library and Gerðuberg Culture House – and not least my co-exhibition designer for this project: designer and artist Högni Sigurþórsson, who made this journey even more monstrously creative and amusing.

This interactive exhibition for children, based on the eight books about Little Monster and Big Monster by Áslaug Jónsdóttir, Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal will run through April 24th 2016 in Reykjavík. It has been designed for travelling and will hopefully travel abroad when time comes. More on that later.
