Haustið 2022 | Autumn

Föstudagsmyndir: Fyrsta vetrardag bar upp á 22. október í ár. Þar með lauk Haustmánuði og við tók Gormánuður. Ég þakka fyrir blítt haust með myndum úr sveit og borg. Góða helgi!

Friday photos: The official First Day of Winter in Iceland was October 22 (always on a Saturday, late in October). Thus the “Month of Autumn” / Haustmánuður came to an end, and the month with the less attractive name: “Month of Gor” / Gormánuður started – all according to the old Norse calendar. The name is connected to the season of slaughtering and feasting in the early winter: gor meaning the half-digested forage from an animal’s innards. Yes, nice.

I bid the mild autumn 2022 farewell with photos from both farm (above) and city (below). Enjoy the weekend!

Haustdagur | Autumn day

By the lake: Sometimes I have no camera with me on my walks, except for my old iPhone. The photos that come out of it are more for a my own reference, serving as a visual note, if anything. Still, I have put some of these photos on Instagram, although I prefer to use my website for posting images – giving my visitors and viewers a more calm platform – and so if they like to visit, they come and go without having to make any decision about likes or notes.

But, yup, autumn is definitely here!

Nokkrar í svart-hvítu. |  Few black-and-whites.
