Andri Snær les | The Story of the Blue Planet – online story time

Bók í boði listamannanna: Andri Snær Magnason gerði sér lítið fyrir og las upp á myndband alla enska þýðingu Sögunnar um bláa hnöttinn sem nú má hlýða á, án endurgjalds, á vef Iceland Naturally eða á myndböndunum hér fyrir neðan. Á vef Iceland Naturally er að finna nánari upplýsingar, m.a. um tengda viðburði, myndasamkeppni o.fl.

Footnote: Artists and institutes are offering their art, services and assistance and content is freely being uploaded to the world wide web. I ask everyone to respect the copyright of the artists. Blái hnötturinn | The Blue Planet

„Einu sinni var blár hnöttur lengst úti í geimnum. Við fyrstu sýn virtist þetta bara vera ósköp venjulegur blár hnöttur …“
“Once upon a time there was a blue planet far out in space. At first sight, it looked like a very ordinary blue planet …”
– Andri Snær Magnason: Sagan af bláa hnettinum / The Story of the Blue Planet.

♦ Book Fair. There are many ways to illustrate a book. Here it is The Story of the Blue Planet : 3D in chocolate, as done by students in The International School in Iceland to celebrate the Children’s Book Fair  2013 last Saturday But as you know, small planets tend to get swallowed by big black holes …

Bókadómar í Bandaríkjum | Book reviews in USA

UsSaganAfBlaa Bókadómar. Sagan af bláa hnettinum eftir Andra Snæ Magnason fær fína dóma vestan hafs. Lesa má meira um það hjá forlaginu Seven Stories Press í New York og heimasíðu Andra Snæs. Að vanda er teiknarans ekki alltaf getið, en hér plokkaði ég út hrósið svo því sé haldið til haga.

Book ReviewThe Story of the Blue Planet  by Andri Snær Magnason (illustrated by Áslaug Jónsdóttir), published by Seven Stories Press, New York, has received excellent reviews in the States. Read more about it here: at Seven Stories Press or on Andri Snær Magnason’s homepage. As usual the illustrator is not always mentioned but I still managed to pick out some praise.

Typographical Era:
“Magnason’s beautifully illustrated and expertly translated book is charming, eccentric, moving, and humbling – often reminiscent of Roald Dahl or William Steig.” – Karli Cude
Typographical Era:
“Of course any review of this particular tale would be incomplete with a mention about the artwork, some of which is sampled here. While it certainly won’t be to everyone’s liking, it does possess a uniqueness about it that binds the reader to the story, propelling them ever deeper into the world that Magnason has gleefully created. It’s both playful and innocent in a way that matches his young subjects.” – Aaron Westerman
Truthout:
“It’s a delightful and pointed tale. Indeed, The Story of the Blue Planet, aided by Aslaug Jonsdottir’s fanciful and evocative illustrations, raises important issues about greed, collaboration, friendship and trust that will kick-start discussions among children and their caretakers.” – Eleanor J Bader
Books for Kids:
“The illustrations are lovely and offer a visual stimulus for the story.  This is one of those books that I think every child should read.” – Dena / Books for Kids
