Föstudagsmyndin: Það var ekki annað hægt en að dást að fýlnum sem var sestur upp í Melabakka í lok mars þrátt fyrir snjó og kulda. Fýllinn fer kannski ekki langt, en fyrir mér er hann engu að síður vorboði. Áfram er landbrotið gríðarlegt við bakkana og að öllum líkindum gengur æ hraðar á landið með hækkandi sjávarstöðu. Leir og molgjörn setlög láta undan og ekki er það heldur til að auðvelda fýlnum varpið í bjarginu.
Photo Friday: One has to admire some birds persistence when migrating for nesting. The Fulmar was back to the cliffs by Melaleiti farm by the end of March, but what waited was snow and sleet. Not to mention the constant erosion of the land, now escalating due to the rise of sea level. Fulmars are monogamous and mate for life – returning back to the same place as long as they live, which can be incredibly long: up to 60 years! If they manage to nest – the female will lay a single egg in early May.
