Föstudagsmyndir: Í stillum og blíðviðri undanfarnar vikur hefur verið mikið yndi ef ekki hrein sáluhjálp að horfa til himins. Sólin speglaði sig líka í stórstraumsfjöru og ísuðum Melabökkunum í byrjun árs.
Friday photos: Winter in Iceland: we have been blessed with good weather the first weeks of the new year 2026. In the calm and gentle weather it has been a true pleasure to enjoy the light and the colors of the sky. Here by iced Melabakkar-cliffs and the beach in January.

Ljósin í borginni: Það þarf ekki einu sinni að fara út úr borginni til að njóta norðurljósanna! Og Ægisíðan verður hreinlega ægifögur í skammdegisbirtunni.
The lights in the city: You don’t even have to leave the city to enjoy the Northern Lights! And shore Ægisíða becomes absolutely stunning in the short daylight.

Snjóskólfan | Hang in there!

Föstudagsmyndin: Það þarf að þreyja þorrann og góuna! Óveður reyna á þolinmæðina, það snjóar og rignir á víxl, stormar æða og kuldinn næðir. Stundum er mælirinn einfaldlega fullur og skiljanlegt að sumir gefist upp á endalausum snjómokstri.

Friday photo: These are the hardest months in Iceland: January, February … the storm and the bad weather is a test for our patience, it snows and rains repeatedly, the wind blows and the cold bites. Sometimes it’s just too much and it is understandable that some people give up on endless shoveling of snow.

Ljósin í myrkrinu | Aurora Borealis

Norðurljós: Það hefur ekki veitt af því að tendra öll ljós í dumbungnum í nóvember. En áður en ég gef mig alfarið jólaljósum á vald ætla ég að birta nokkrar myndir af himnasendingu frá því 30. október, þegar segulljósin dönsuðu allt í kring og ég var svo lánsöm að vera stödd fjarri sterkum ljósum í borginni. Hér er tengill á norðurljósaspá fyrir Ísland.

The Northern Lights: November has been rainy and dark so we are looking forward to light all the Christmas decorations soon. I never thought I would say this: the more the better, and sooner the better… it is so dark. But before I go gearing up for the artificial lights I’m going to post images from a spectacular night at our farm, where the Northern Lights lit up the sky all around us. Of course we will not be able to enjoy the Northern lights in the madly decorated city…
