Föstudagsmyndir: Það er kominn júní og sumarið kom á harðspretti. Ég ætti að velja einhverja sólríka mynd því vorið hefur verið bjart og blítt. En einmitt í dag hefur rignt. Þessar „votu“ myndir frá Reykjavíkurhöfn eru því myndir dagsins.
(Nú heiti ég því að vera duglegri að henda einhverju út á veflogginn … meira, meira. Meira síðar!)
Friday Photos: It’s already June and summer has come running. Suddenly everything is sprouting and blooming. I should choose a sunny picture because spring has been bright and mild. But today it has rained and the sunny photos just don’t fit. These “wet” photos from Reykjavik Harbor are therefore the pictures of the day.

Dimmir dagar. Jæja, kæra dagbók… Nú loks þegar öllu minni ógn stafar af covid-heimsfaraldrinum, þá datt vænisjúkum leiðtoga Rússlands í hug að setja allt í bál og brand í Evrópu með innrás í Úkraínu og öllum þeim hryllingi sem fylgir stríði. Baráttuandi Úkraínumanna er aðdáunarverður og árásarþjóðin hefur nú þegar tapað stríðinu, hvað sem landvinningum líður. Vonandi tekst bræðraþjóðunum í sameiningu að koma raunveruleikafirrtum heimsvaldasinna (og hans líkum) frá völdum í Rússlandi og bjarga því sem bjargað verður. Vonandi er ljós við enda ófærunnar.
Náttúran er söm við sig og lætur okkur kenna á veðri og vindum, enda er öfgum í veðri spáð um alla jörð. Einmitt þegar við ættum öll að einbeita okkur að því að bjarga mannkyninu frá tortímingu af völdum hamfarahlýnunar, mengunar og ofneyslu – og nota til þess dýr og góð ráð, – þá er nú dælt dýrmætum fjármunum í hergögn og stríðsvélar. Það er eins og okkur sé ekki viðbjargandi. Samt er ekki í boði að bíða þess sem verða vill og sem betur fer er múgur og margmenni að vinna að bættum heimi – manna og náttúru, – og allir geta lagt sitt litla lóð á vogarskálarnar. Ég hnýti hér í lokin við tengil á neyðaraðstoð Rauða krossins.
Dark days. Oh, dear diary… After the long and bleak years of the covid-19 pandemic ruling the world, one considered the threat to be diminishing, and brighter times ahead. Then Russia’s paranoid leader felt it was time to start a war in Europe. The horrible invasion of Ukraine has been condemned by all with a few odd exceptions. The resistance and the spirit of the Ukrainians is admirable and the attacking nation has already lost the war, no matter what they conquer. The people of Russia must be pitied and hopefully these nations will together succeed in getting the imperialistic madman from power in Russia and are able to save what can be saved. Hopefully there is a light at the end of this rough road.
Nature is the real ruler of the world and harries us with the weather and winds, as more extreme weather is forecast all over the earth. So just when we should all focus on saving humanity from destruction by catastrophic and global climate change, pollution and overconsumption – with all our means, the precious resources and capital is now being pumped into military equipment and war machines. Are we beyond saving?
Still, it is not an option just to wait to see what will happen and fortunately, a mob and many people are working towards a better world – people and nature. Föstudagsmyndir – Vetrardagar: Þrátt fyrir stutta daga og oft dimma eru litir og form, ljós og skuggar ekki síður áhugaverðir að vetri, en um bjarta sumardaga. Litaskalinn er blár en þar eru engu að síður ótal blæbrigði. Það hefur snjóað heil ósköp síðan þessar myndir voru teknar með tilheyrandi ófærð og önuglyndi í umferðinni. Þetta eru kjöraðstæður til að hægja á og gefa sér tíma í góða útivist þegar veður leyfa.
Friday Photos – Winterdays: Despite short days and gloomy weather these darkest months of winter, the colors of nature, light and shadows are no less interesting than the ones on the brightest days of summer. The palette is blue but what a range! It has snowed a lot in Iceland since these photos were taken, making roads and street impassable and many travellers annoyed. These are ideal conditions to slow down and enjoy a good time outdoors when the weather allows.
