♦ Föstudagsmyndir: Eins og lesendur síðunnar minnar ugglaust vita, þá er ég haldin þeirri áráttu að taka myndir af fuglum. Næst á listanum yfir vinsælt myndefni úr dýraríkinu eru hross, en það kemur reyndar til af mun praktískari ástæðum. Myndirnar af folöldunum hér fyrir neðan tók ég fyrir Viljahesta – sem er hrossarækt eiginmannsins.
Fálkinn hér fyrir ofan virtist heldur tætingslegur. Reyndar grunar mig að hann sé bæklaður á vinstra fæti, sem hann tyllti ekki í, þar sem hann sat um stund á staur og fylgdist með múkkanum í Melabökkunum.
♦ Photo Friday: Readers of my blog know that I am an avid photographer of birds although my photos do not come anywhere close to the quality the professional bird photography you see all around. Still, I can’t help myself.
Above is a ruffled gyrfalcon (Falco rusticolus islandicus) that rested for a while on fence pole, looking over the sea and the cliffs where the arctic fulmars (Fulmarus glacialis) are nesting. I think the falcon might have hurt his left leg, as he kept it curled up when he sat down – and not quite in control when flying. This could explain the tattered, hungry look.
And then there are the horses, that I photograph a lot. Although my intentions there are far more practical. The photos below were taken for the site Viljahestar, portraying my husbands horse breeding, at the family farm Melaleiti.
