♦ Bókadómar: Á spænsku barnabókmenntasíðunni Pekeleke má lesa tvo nýlega dóma um útgáfur Sushi books á fyrstu skrímslabókunum tveimur: Monstruo pequeño dice ¡NO! (Nei! sagði litla skrímslið) og Los monstruos grandes no lloran (Stór skrímsli gráta ekki). Eftir því sem ég kemst næst er góður rómur gerður að bókunum. Umfjöllunina má finna með með því að smella á tenglana í bókatitlunum hér fyrir ofan.

Skrímslakisi: Bókadómar í Svíþjóð | Book reviews in Sweden

monsterkatten3dhu♦ Bókadómar. Skrímslakisi, sem í sænskri útgáfu heitir Monsterkatten og gefinn er út hjá Kabusa Böcker, fékk nokkrar ljómandi fínar umsagnir á árinu sem leið. Helene Ehriander, lektor í bókmenntum við Linnéháskólann í Svíþjóð, skrifaði ritdóm um Skrímslakisa í BTJ-häftet, tímarit þjónustumiðstöðvar bókasafna í Svíþjóð. Þar segir meðal annars um Monsterkatten: „… sem er, eins og fyrri bækurnar, spennandi afrakstur samstilltra hugmynda, ósvikins húmors og sköpunargáfu í ríkum mæli. … Það sem gerir skrímslabækurnar svo áhugaverðar er að þær segja frá andstyggilegum og erfiðum tilfinningum með hlýju og húmor. Ekkert er einfaldað og enginn vísifingur er á lofti. … Umbrotið er fjölskrúðugt og verður hluti af myndlýsingunum þar sem letrið miðlar einnig á grafískan hátt því sem liggur að baki orðunum. Myndirnar eru listrænar og aðgengilegar og tjá ríkar tilfinningar. Sögurnar um þessa tvo skrímslavini eru í uppáhaldi hjá mörgum börnum og það er ánægjulegt að sjá að Skrímslakisi er af jafn miklum gæðum og fyrri bækurnar.“

BTJ-dómurinn í heild sinni:
„Detta är den åttonde svensk-isländsk-färöiska bilderboken om Lilla monster och Stora monster, som liksom de tidigare är ett spännande resultat av gemensamma idéer, genuin humor och ett stort mått kreativitet. Konflikten är lätt igenkännbar. Lilla Monster har fått en kattunge och Stora Monster känner sig svartstjuk för att den får så mycket tid och kärlek samtidigt som han är avundsjuk för att han inte har nagon egen kattunge. Stora monster gömmer kattungen och spelar ovetande när Lilla monster letar efter den, men på sista sidan har problemet lösts på att fint sätt. Det som er så interessant med monster-böckerna är att de skildrar fula och elake känslor med värme och humor. Inget förenklas och inga pekpinnar viftar. Läsaren kan prove de olika rollerna och känna de olika känslorna utan att de finns något fördömande i bakgrunden. Texten flyter med rytm och känsla. Layouten är varierad och blir till en del av illustrationerna då texten också grafiskt förmedlar känslorna bakom det som sägs. Bilderna är konstnärliga och lättilgängliga med många starka känslouttryck. Eva Emmelin skrifar um þrjár barnabækur í Skånska Dagbladet, þar á meðal um Monsterkatten og bendir á sögurnar tvær í bókinni: „Í myndrænu frásögninni er hægt að fylgjast með samviskubitinu sem greinilega hleðst smám saman upp hjá stóra skrímlinu. Börnin fá tvær sögur í bókinni, eina spennandi (hvar er skrímslakisi?), og aðra sem læðist óþægilega að lesandanum (kemst einhver að því hvað stóra skrímslið hefur gert?).“

„Den som inte är uppmärksam kanske missar håven som dyker upp i bild och tror att Stora monster är genuint orolig när Monsterkatten inte dyker upp en kväll. Att bildvägen följa det dåliga samvete som så tydligt kryper över Stora monsters är en upplevelse. För barnen får boken två historier, den första nervkittlande (var kan monsterkatten vara?), den andra krypande obehaglig (när ska någon komma på vad Stora monster gjort?).“  – Eva Emmelin, Skånskan 18. október 2014

Í bókabloggum má líka finna ummæli um Skrímslakisa. Marika er umsvifamikill bloggari og skrifar færslu í Marikas bokdagbok um Monsterkatten. Hún gefur þessa einkunn: „Fin berättelse om starka känslor.“ Í bloggfærslu í janúar 2015 taldi Marika svo upp bestu barnabækur ársins 2014 að hennar mati: „Den allra bästa barnboken var nog “Monsterkatten” av Kalle Güettler, Rakel Helmsdal och Áslaug Jónsdóttir.“

Í Hemmets Vedotidning voru taldar upp sjö bækur sem ver kynnu bestu kostirnir í jólapakkana. Þar var mælt með Skrímslakisa: „Dásamleg bókaröð … skemmtilegar myndir og mátulega hræðileg skrímsli.“

„Monster till minstingen. Monsterkatten är det senaste tillskottet i den populära och prisbelönta Monsterserien. En underbar serie för 3-6-åringar om Stora monster och lilla monster som hamnar i olika situationer som barnen känner igen. Roliga bilder och lagom läskiga monster.“  – Hemmets Vekotidning, 19. desember 2014.

♦ Book reviews. Book reviews on Skrímslakisi – Monsterkatten (The Monster Cat) were few but splendid in Sweden in 2014. An important review was in the Swedish Library Magazine: BTJ-häftet, by Helene Ehriander, where it read: “What is so fascinating about the monster-books is that they portray ugly and difficult feelings with warmth and humor. Nothing is simplified and there are no fingers pointed. The reader may try out different roles and emotions, without any condemnation hovering overhead. The text flows with rhythm and flair. The layout is varied and becomes part of the illustrations where type and text also graphically express the emotions behind what is being said. The pictures are artistic and accessible with many strong emotional expressions. The stories of the two monsters friends have become many children’s favorite reading, and it is gratifying to learn that The Monster Cat is of the same quality as the previous books.”

The Monster Cat was highly recommended in Hemmets Vedotidning and in Marikas bokdagbok here and here; as well as review by Eva Emmelin in Skånska Dagbladet; where she points out the two stories in the book, one in the text and then the second in the illustrations: “To experience through the illustrations the bad conscience that so clearly creeps over the Big Monster is an adventure. For children, the book has two stories, the first a thrilling one (where can the monster cat be?), and then the other unpleasantly creeping in (will someone find out what Big Monster has done?).”

♦ Bókadómar: Katalónska vefritið Direct!Cat valdi og birti í desember s.l. lista yfir 10 bestu bækur ársins 2014 sem gefnar voru út á katalónsku og ritrýndar höfðu verið hjá blaðinu. Þar voru taldar upp ýmsar bækur, svo sem Mother Night eftir Kurt Vonnegut, Der große Fall eftir Peter Handke og Stór skrímsli gráta ekki eftir Áslaugu Jónsdóttur, Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal. GoiIrakuragaienMunstro2015♦ Bókadómar: Stór skrímsli gráta ekki  marsera með á árlegum úrvalslista bókasafna í Navarra á Spáni „DESFILE DE ALTA LECTURA“ 2015. Þar fær bókin ljómandi umsögn á spænsku (kastilísku) og basknesku sem ef til vill mætti þýða svo: „Vinalegu skrímslin, sem eru sköpun þessara norrænu höfunda, leyfa sér að fjalla um tilfinningar og líðan án nokkurs ótta. Áhrifaríkar myndlýsingar í framúrskarandi bók.“  Ritið má finna hér.

♦ Book review: Each year, a team of librarians from the public libraries of Navarra in Spain present a selection of outstanding titles with recommendations of books in different genres for readers of all ages. Parading along with other books in the catalog „DESFILE DE ALTA LECTURA“ 2015 is Big Monsters Don’t Cry, – in Basque: Munstro handiek ez dute negarrik egiten. The catalog is available here. The review says: “The friendly monsters, created by these Nordic authors, deal with emotions and feelings without any fear. Expressive illustrations in a great book.”

♦ Bókadómar: Í einu elsta dagblaði Spánar, Faro de Vigo, birtust ritdómar eftir Maríu Navarro um galisísku útgáfurnar á Nei! sagði litla skrímslið og Stór skrímsli gráta ekki: sem á galisísku heita Monstro Pequeno di non! og Os monstros grandes non choran – Greinarnar má lesa í úrklippunum hér fyrir ofan og neðan. Um bækurnar segir m.a. eitthvað á þessa lund: „Myndskreytingar Áslaugar Jónsdóttur endurspegla fullkomlega hugarástand sögupersónanna og hæfilegur skammtur af húmor fær lesendann til að skynja í sögunni ósviknar heimspekilegar vangaveltur um lífið.“

♦ Book review: Both No! Said Little Monster and Big Monsters Don’t Cry  were reviewed in one of the oldest newspapers in Spain, the Galician Faro de Vigo. In the article on Os monstros grandes non choran, titled: “The self-esteem – Simple and soulful story”, it says: “The illustrations by Áslaug Jónsdóttir reflect perfectly the mood of the characters, with a touch of hilarity that makes us perceive the story as a genuine philosophical reflection of life.” – María Navarro

Skrímslaerjur: Norskur bókadómur | Book review in Norway

8_Pirion_2014-Forsida♦ Bókadómur: Skrímslaerjur eða Monsterbråk kom út á norsku síðastliðið haust hjá forlaginu Skald. Bókin var ritrýnd í tímaritinu Pirion eins og má lesa hér. Þar segir meðal annars:

„Höfundunum hefur tekist að skapa sérstakan heim þar sem góðhjörtuð skrímsli eiga í erjum og erfiðleikum. Og bestu vinir eru þau ævinlega, sama á hverju gengur og sama hvað þau segja við hvert annað. 8-Pirion-2014-Monsterbråk♦ Book review: Skrímslaerjur (Monster Squabbles) were published in Norway last fall by Skald. It was reviewed in the magazine Pirion, by Judith Sørhus Litlehamar:

“The authors have created a unique world where kindhearted monsters have their squabbles and troubles. And they are best friends, no matter how they quarrel and what ever they may throw at each other. The books can teach us a lot about friendship and how to solve conflicts without feud or force.
Jónsdóttir’s illustrations are suitably dark and dangerous, yet colorful elements pop up everywhere … The images also contribute a great deal to the story: when the brawl is over and the two monsters are friends again, the sun shines and a colorful rainbow burst out in the illustration. – Judith Sørhus Litlehamar / Pirion 8/2014

Bókadómur og bóksalaverðlaun | Book review and Booksellers’ Prize

♦ Bókadómur og bestu bækurnar: Í gær var tilkynnt um val bóksala landsins á bestu bókum ársins. Skrímslakisi er í góðum félagsskap og deilir 3.-4. sæti í flokki íslenskra barnabóka með Síðasta galdrameistaranum eftir Ármann Jakobsson. Í fyrsta sæti er Þín eigin þjóðsaga eftir Ævar Þór Benediktsson og í öðru sæti Fuglaþrugl og naflakrafl eftir Þórarinn Eldjárn og Sigrúnu Eldjárn.

Morgunblaðið birti í dag bókadóm Silju Bjarkar Huldudóttur um Skrímslakisa: „Líkt og í fyrri skrímslabókum er sagan dregin upp með sterkum myndum og stuttum texta. … Það er ekki hægt annað en að þykja vænt um skrímslin og gleðjast yfir enn einni gæðabókinni úr frjóu samstarfi Áslaugar Jónsdóttur, Kalle Güettler og Rakelar Helmsdal.“ Silja Björk gefur bókinni fjórar og hálf stjörnu.

♦ Book review and book prize: A list of books receiving the Icelandic Booksellers’ Prize was announced last night. Skrímslakisi (The Monster Cat) shared the 3rd-4th place with Síðasti galdrameistarinn by Ármann Jakobsson, in the catagory of children’s books and as „the best books of the year“. The prize was first awarded in 2000. Skrímslaerjur (Monster Squabbles) was on the list of the best children’s books in 2012, in third place. Nei! sagði litla skrímslið (No! Said the Little Monster) was the best children’s book in 2004 and Gott kvöld (Good Evening) in 2005.

The Monster Cat also received an excellent review in Morgunblaðið newspaper today: four and a half star for “yet another high quality book sprung out of the creative collaboration of Áslaug Jónsdóttir, Kalle Güettler and Rakel Helmsdal.“

Þrír bókadómar | Three book reviews

DV 7-10nov2014♦ Bókadómar: Skrímslakisi hefur fengið ljómandi viðtökur hjá gagnrýnendum undanfarið. María Bjarkadóttir skrifar um þrjár myndabækur á vefsíðunni Bókmenntir.is og segir m.a. þetta um Skrímslakisa: „Myndirnar eru líkt og í fyrri skrímslabókunum skemmtilegar og litríkar og má lesa töluvert meira úr þeim en kemur fram í textanum, bæði um persónuleika skrímslanna tveggja og um samskiptin þeirra á milli. Svipbrigði skrímslanna eru einstaklega lýsandi og auðvelt að fá samúð með þeim báðum í sögunni.“ Umfjöllunina má lesa í heild sinni hér.

Auður Haralds fjallaði um Skrímslakisa í þættinum Virkir morgnar á RÚV. „Skrímslakisinn er eins og barnabækur eiga að vera,“ sagði Auður. „Boðskapurinn svona laumast inn með kætinni og ánægjunni. ♦ Myndabækur: Lotta Olsson skrifar í Dagens Nyheter um mikilvægi þess að ungir lesendur hafi úr fjölbreyttu úrvali bóka að moða og ennfremur segir hún frá leit sinni að nýlegum myndabókum. Lotta Olsson fullyrðir að á bókamarkaðinum sé hreinlega að finna svarthol því margar nýrri myndabækur séu uppseldar og ófáanlegar – valið standi aðeins á milli nýútkominna bóka og svo mikið eldri sígildra bóka. Sænska útgáfan af „Ég vil fisk!“ virðist hafa hafnað í þessu svartholi, en um hana segir Lotta: „ …dásamleg lítil saga um tungumál og skilning.“

♦ Picture books: In an article in Dagens Nyheter, Sweden’s largest morning paper, my book I Want Fish is mention as one of many fairly new books that are sold out and unavailable – but shouldn’t be! Reviewer and journalist Lotta Olsson wanted to buy a selection of books for a young friend but found out that publishers hesitate to reprint older titles: the room is cleared for the new books, creating what Olsson calls “a black hole” between the old classics that are consitently republished and new resently published books. My book “I Want Fish” (Vill ha’ fisk!) seems to have disapeared in that black hole, a book Olsson finds “…adorable little story about language and understanding.”

Þann dag er einmitt tilkynnt um Bókmenntaverðlaun barnanna í Svíþjóð: Bokjuryn. Þar hafa bækurnar um skrímslin jafnan komist á lista. Í dag kom líka í ljós að Skrímslaerjur (Monsterbråk) var að mati barna í Svíþjóð valin ein af 10 bestu myndabókum ársins 2013, kom þar í fjórða sæti. ♦Book News: Happy World Book Day! Here is my advice for the day: If you don’t have the time to read a big novel today, try a good picturebook. It’s like reading a solid poem, you get the whole universe of a book, a whole story, in a short text. Combined with the visual art it stimulates so many parts of your brain. And if you dare, you might even connect with that inner child of yours.

Í síðustu viku birtist umfjöllun í dagblaðinu Information um bækurnar sem tilnefndar voru til Barna- og unglingabókmenntaverðlauna Norðurlandaráðs 2013. Í grein sinni: „Nordisk børnelitteratur befrier sig af krop og form“ skrifar Anita Brask Rasmussen m.a. um vináttuna sem bæti einstaklinginn og um það fjalli líka Skrímslaerjur. Ennfremur segir hún:

„… Monsterskænderi er i sandhed en billedbog. Illustrationerne råber ofte højere end teksten, som er minimal. Monstrene har små skyer over hovederne, og vejret bliver dårligere og dårligere, efterhånden som de bliver uvenner. Vejret bliver sjælens spejl, og monstre kan som bekendt have meget mørke sjæle.“

♦ Book review. Last week the Danish newspaper Information reviewed all the books nominated toThe Nordic Council Children’s and Young People’s Literature Prize 2013. In the article: “Nordisk børnelitteratur befrier sig af krop og form“, Anita Brask Rasmussen writes about Skrímslaerjur’s (Monster Row)  theme of friendship, the symbolic clouds and stormy weather. She also says: “Monster Row is truly a picturebook. The illustrations often shout louder than the text, which is minimal.“

Í ýmsum vefmiðlum og útvarpi hefur verið fjallað hefur verið um bækurnar sem tilnefndar eru til Barna- og unglingabókmenntaverðlauna Norðurlandaráðs. Á vef NRK, norska ríkisútvarpsins má finna umfjöllun um allar bækurnar. Greinina má lesa hér en um Skrímslaerjur segir Anne Cathrine Straume m.a. þetta:

„Monstrene skildres i viltre tegninger, sterkt dramatisert, slik teksten også iblant roper til oss med fete typer. ♦ Book review. A Swedish reviewer at BOKUNGE, a blog on children’s books for the youngest, has nice remarks for Monster Squabbles: “A fabulously funny book about dispute and how wrong things go when rage gets out of control, and then how bad guilt can hit, in the stomach and the head.”

♦ Bókadómur. „Skemmtileg deilugjörn skrímsli“  hljómar fyrirsögnin á bókadómi Peter Grönborg í Borås Tidningen í Svíþjóð, en þar fjallar hann um sænsku útgáfuna af Skrímslaerjum: Monsterbråk. Í dóminum segir m.a.: „Funandi tilfinningasveiflunum er lýst með hlýjum húmor. Sáttasenurnar eru óborganlegar.“  Þó þetta sé sjöunda bókin um skrímslin finnur Peter engin þreytumerki á höfundarverkinu og sendir okkur því skýlausa hvatningu: Fleiri bækur!

♦ Book review. “Humorous quarellsome monsters” is the headline for the review on Monster Squabbles in Borås Tidningen Newspaper in Sweden. Peter Grönborg says there: “The explosive mood swings are illustrated with warm sense of humor. The scenes of reconciliation are priceless.” And although this is the seventh book about the monsters, the reviewer finds that they are still going strong and he therefore exhorts: More books!

MonsterbraakSvCoverWeb♦ Bókadómur. Skrímslaerjur á sænsku, Monsterbråk, fengu fínan dóm í dagblaðinu Norrtelje Tidning í morgun. Sænska útgáfan kom út á dögunum hjá Kabusa Böcker í Gautaborg. Í bókadóminum segir Margaretha Levin Blekastad m.a. eitthvað á þessa lund: „Bækurnar um litla og stóra skrímslið eru aðlaðandi á svalan hátt, með stórbrotnum myndum og djörfum sjónarhornum. … Það er eitthvað við sauðþráa kergjuna og hárbeittar tennur litla skrímslisins sem hittir beint í hjartastað.“

♦ Book review. Monster Squabbles in Swedish received a good review in Norrtelje Tidning Newspaper today. Our publisher in Sweden, Kabusa Böcker, release the book about four weeks ago. The reviewer in NT says: “The books about Little Monster and Big Monster have a cool appeal, with impressive illustrations and bold points of view. … There is something about Little Monster’s resilient stubbornness and razor-sharp teeth that goes straight to the heart”.

♦ Viðburðir. Í dag, 24. apríl, er síðasti vetrardagur eins og berlega kom í ljós með snjókomu í Reykjavík í morgun. Í gær, 23. apríl, var Dagur bókarinnar og alla vikuna eru áhugaverðir bókmenntaviðburðir vítt og breitt um borgina, eins og lesa má á vef Bókmenntaborgarinnar. Í fyrradag, 22. apríl, var Dagur Jarðar, þó allir dagar séu í raun dagar Jarðar og dagar góðra bóka. Á vefnum The Children’s Book Review var bent á að Sagan af bláa hnettinum eftir Andra Snæ Magnason væri ákjósanleg lesning á Degi Jarðar og það sama gerði útgefandinn, Seven Stories Press.

Eftir tæpa þrjá daga er kosið til Alþingis. Ég mæli með því að þeir sem vanræktu Dag Jarðar og Dag bókarinnar rifji upp til dæmis Draumalandið eða Söguna af bláa hnettinum fyrir kosningar. Ryksugandi sölumenn hafa safnað fiðrildadufti, slá ryki í augu, slá um sig og bjóðast til þess að negla sólina fasta yfir Íslandi. Ekki kjósa Gleði-Glaum.

♦ Events. Today, 24th of April, is the last day of winter in Iceland, so of course it snowed heavily this morning! Yesterday, 23rd of April, was World Book Day, which is celebrated the whole week in Reykjavik Unesco City of Literature, with many interesting book events. The day before, 22nd of April, was Earth Day. All in all a good reason to celebrate, although every day should be a day of the Earth and a day of a good book. In The Children’s Book Review, The Story of the Blue Planet by Andri Snær Magnason was selected on a list of recommended reading on Earth Day. The publisher, Seven Stories Press, also pointed that out.

In less than three days we have parliamentary elections in Iceland. I recommend good reading before voting: two books by Andri Snær: Dreamland: A Self-Help Guide for a Frightened Nation, and The Story of the Blue Planet. I fear that too many will put their vote on Gleesome Goodday and his promises of flying in endless sunlight.

♦ Bókaútgáfa. Sagan af bláa hnettinum eftir Andra Snæ Magnason heldur áfram að gera víðreist. Nú er hvað úr hverju von á bresku útgáfunni hjá Pushkin Press í London. Ég fékk eintakið mitt með póstinum í síðustu viku (til hægri). Bandaríska útgáfan (til vinstri) kom út í lok síðasta árs hjá  Seven Stories Press og hefur fengið fína dóma og viðurkenningar. Báðar þessar útgáfur eru í öðru broti en íslenska frumútgáfan og dökki geimurinn á kápunni fékk að fjúka. Kápu- og bókarhönnun var í höndum erlendu útgefendanna.

♦ Bókadómur. School Library Journal birti á dögunum bókadóm um Söguna af bláa hnettinum og hann má lesa hér fyrir neðan. Þar segir m.a.: „Well-paced, with some wonderful, story-enhancing color illustrations.“

♦ Book release. The UK-version of The Story of the Blue Planet by Andri Snær Magnason is soon to be released by Pushkin Press in London. I got my copy in the mail last week. The US-version (left) was published several months ago by Seven Stories Press and has received excellent reviews and honors. The two English versions have the original illustrations, but differ quite a bit from the original edition in layout. Cover and book design was made by the publishing houses.

♦ Book review. School Library Journal has published a review on The Story of the Blue Planet, stating: “Well-paced, with some wonderful, story-enhancing color illustrations.”

“Those who enjoyed Adam Gidwitz’s A Tale Dark and Grimm (Dutton, 2010) may find Magnason’s cautionary ecological tale a perfect compliment. Like Gidwitz, Magnason does not shy away from graphic descriptions of danger and death. That being said, as in all good fables, he begins with once upon a time and readers learn of an innocuous-looking blue planet floating in space. It is inhabited solely by children, who live an idyllic, although somewhat savage life (they hunt for food, even clubbing seals). They are happy and this is most fully realized once a year when the butterflies of the Blue Mountains follow the sun across the sky, a beautiful and breathtaking sight. But as in all good tales and life itself, things are never static. Enter the villain, Mr. Goodday, who lands on the planet and is discovered by the protagonists, Brimir and Hulda. Mr. Goodday, over the course of a very short time, corrupts the children by giving them the power to fly and by introducing them to, among other things, the concept of sefishness. In the process the planet is corrupted as well, affecting the entire ecosystem. After a number of harrowing events, Mr. Goodday is outsmarted by Hulda, who offers to fulfill his greatest wish in return for restoring the children and planet to their former states. NatGen-book-seal2♦ Bókaverðlaun. Sagan af bláa hnettinum eftir Andra Snæ Magnason hlaut á dögunum viðurkenningu í Bandaríkjunum þegar tilkynnt var að bókin hefði hlotið The Green Earth Honor Awards 2013. Verðlaunað er í fimm flokkum en sjö bækur hljóta að auki heiðursverðlaun og var Sagan af bláa hnettinum, í þýðingu Julian Meldon D’Arcy, ein þeirra. Það er The Nature Generation sem veitir verðlaunin, en þau voru veitt í fyrsta sinn árið 2005. Sagan af bláa hnettinum er gefin út hjá Seven Stories Press í New York og er með upprunalegum myndskreytingum en í broti ólíku frumútgáfunni.

♦ Ummæli: Bryndís Loftsdóttir vörustjóri hjá Eymundsson tilgreindi uppáhaldssögupersónur sínar í helgarblaði Morgunblaðsins síðastliðinn sunnudag. Hún telur eingöngu upp hetjur úr barnabókum, þar á meðal litla skrímslið og stóra skrímslið: „Uppáhaldssöguhetjur mínar úr samtímabarnabókum eru svo stóra og litla skrímslið úr Skrímslabókum Áslaugar Jónsdóttur, Kalle Güettler og Rakel Helmsdal. Það er einhver galdur í þessum sögum sem maður fær bara ekki leiða á.“ (Mbl. 13.01.2013)

♦ Book mention: In Morgunblaðið newspaper last Sunday, the monsters got a nice remark from Bryndís Loftsdóttir bookseller at Eymundsson bookstores, as she announces them for her favorite book characters. Bókmenntaverðlaun bóksala | The Booksellers Prize

♦ Bókaverðlaun. Tilkynnt var um Bókmenntaverðlaun starfsfólks bókaverslana árið 2012 í sjónvarpsþættinum Kiljunni í gær. Skrímslaerjur komust þar á lista sem ein af bestu barnabókum ársins, í þriðja sæti. Verðlaunin voru fyrst veitt árið 2000. Nei! sagði litla skrímslið hreppti fyrsta sæti í flokki barnabóka árið 2004 og Gott kvöld árið 2005.

♦ Book Prize. Booksellers in Iceland announced their list of The best books of the year last night, in Kiljan television programme. Skrímslaerjur (Monster Squabbles) was on the list of the best children’s books in 2012, in third place. The prize was first awarded in 2000. Nei! sagði litla skrímslið (No! Said the Little Monster) was the best children’s book in 2004 and Gott kvöld (Good Evening) in 2005.
